Gamlin Restaurant Group is proud to announce that its owners, Derek and Lucas Gamlin, have won the 2017 CWEA Polk Award.
This award, given annually by The Central West End Association, recognizes individuals who have consistently contributed leadership by example and contributions to the Central West End.
The Gamlin brothers were selected because of their commitment to and investment in the CWE neighborhood, and their Gamlin Gives Back program, which has donated more than $150,000 to local organizations such as Forest Park Forever, Stray Rescue St. Louis, the St. Louis Arc, Shriners Hospitals for Children, World Pediatric Project, the Gateway Area Chapter of the National MS Society and Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis, to name a few.
Derek is a prominent member of the CWE North Community Improvement District and helps guide the course of the neighborhood’s festivals, marketing, beautification and other aspects that helped earn the Central West End the distinction of being one of the nation’s top 10 neighborhoods. Lucas has been instrumental in helping Gamlin Whiskey House and Sub Zero Vodka Bar earn Green Dining Alliance certification, moving the neighborhood forward as a green dining district. Both are actively involved with local non-profit organizations that work to improve the St. Louis region.
“It is a great honor to receive this award because it really speaks to one of our core values here at Gamlin Restaurant Group,” Proprietor Lucas Gamlin says. “We work hard to be a positive force here in the neighborhood and St. Louis in general, and to do all we can to make this area an even better place to live, work and play.”
“We chose to invest in the Central West End when we opened Sub Zero Vodka Bar 13 years ago, and we see the return on that investment every day,” Proprietor Derek Gamlin says. “This neighborhood continues to flourish and we look forward to being part of the CWE community for many years to come!”
